Job Purpose:
a) To help fulfill the purpose of the church according to Bergfeld EMMC Constitution and uphold the objectives of ministry to Exalt Christ... Equip for Service… Edify one another... Evangelize the lost… Extend Christ’s Love.
b) To invite the youth at Bergfeld and surrounding area come to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Saviour and disciple them toward maturity in their faith.

Responsibilities:
1) Discipleship
a) Plan and conduct regular weekly youth meetings. Typically, these meetings should include a time of worship, a Bible study with discussion and group interaction. At least half of all scheduled youth evening are to be Bible studies.
b) Plan and attend annual retreats for youth groups, for a youth mission trip every two years. The retreats and mission trips are seen as important opportunities for the youth to grow in their faith, expand their Christian worldview and serve others.
c) Spend time with youth on an individual basis outside of the weekly youth meetings or events for the purpose of developing a personal relationship with as many youth as possible.
d) Communicate directly with the youth leaders, the youth, and their parents about schedules and all youth events in a timely manner.
2) Ministry within the church
a) Develop a group of Christian men/women who are willing to uphold the youth ministry in daily prayer.
b) Encourage the youth to be involved in the life and ministry of the church and its programs.
c) Attend Sunday School class on Sunday mornings.
d) Model faithfulness and commitment to the local church through regular attendance on Sundays and additional church activities.
e) Communicate to the congregation about activities, special events and the needs within the youth ministry.
f) Scheduled to preach occasionally on Sunday mornings. (2-5 times per year on average)
3) Outreach
a) Plan and conduct outreach events designed to reach non-Christians. This can include developing relationships with non-Christian youth, whether they attend the youth group or not. To develop a relationship with local schools to be able to be present.
b) Attend Winkler and Area Youth Leaders (WAYL) meetings and are encouraged to attend the high school Christian Bible studies (Stonehouse and Lighthouse) as their schedule allows.
4) Youth sponsors
a) Select and build a team of adult youth leaders that will be involved in a regular basis with the youth group. This will be done in conjunction with the Education Committee and the youth pastor will provide teaching and delegation to the individual team members to minister effectively to the youth.
b) Plan and attend regular meetings with the youth leaders to plan the youth schedules, delegate tasks, and discuss indivual youth needs.
5) Committee involvement
a) Be active member of both the Elders and Church Board. This would include providing a monthly report at both committees.
6) Leadership development
a) Make provision to nurture youth (and youth leaders), that show spiritual maturity, a genuine concern for the lost, and other leadership skills by providing opportunity for service, outreach, godly instruction.
b) Include the youth in leadership roles or tasks on youth evenings, worship services, and other programs.
7) Personal development
a) Spend time in daily reading of Scripture and spending time in prayer.
b) Encouraged to continue leadership development, through seminars and other training events.
c) Foster positive working relationships within the church office and with other Youth Pastors.
8) Accountability
a) Is accountable to the Elders and Church Board regarding program planning and activities.
b) Shall be a member of the Ministerial and receive spiritual direction from the Senior Pastor.
c) Shall affirm the constitution of Bergfeld EMMC and be/become a member.
d) Is expected to consider the input of parents of the youth, youth sponsors, and those on the Education and Ministerial committees.
e) This position requires an average of a 40 hour work week, with time spent in the office (minimum of 12 hours per week), time in the community with the youth and attendance at all church related youth functions. Being part of a team of pastors, it is important to inform the Office Administrator and/or the pastors of your schedule when not in the office.
9) Evaluation
a) The Education Committee shall do an initial review after six months on the job. This will give the opportunity for both the Youth Pastor and the congregation to get to know each other and see if any compatibility problems arise.
b) A formal evaluation based on this job description shall be conducted annually by the Pastoral Review Committee.
c) To assist in this evaluation process the Youth Pastor will keep record of his time and activities.
