Your Calling and Commitments:
As a pastor you can clearly articulate and have evidence of God’s call to a vocation of pastoral Ministry. You can identify your spiritual gifts, and they are affirmed by the congregation and relevant to your calling. You will be able to describe how your spiritual gifts shape how you serve and articulate a clear theology and philosophy of Ministry. Your life and behavior will display the fruit of the spirit and demonstrate the character and qualities found in 1 Timothy 3. You are a high-capacity leader with strong relational skills and committed to functional compliance with the current employment policy. The Worship Pastor must be credentialed by the Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba, be in full agreement with the Confession of Faith of the Canadian Conference of MB Churches and uphold the MB Conference personal Ministry ethics agreement as a member of Eastview Community Church.
Your Purpose: The Worship Pastor is responsible for the spiritual formation of all worship, tech and design teams. Your Ministry will flow from your love of Jesus Christ. The primary focus of your position is to provide spiritual and visionary leadership to the worship Ministry at Eastview under the overall leadership of the Lead Pastor. You will shape and champion discipleship in Eastview’s worship culture, including the implementation of strategies for engaging this group in the life of the larger Church. You will lead worship, recruit and develop worship leaders, and train teams towards holistic worship practices. Key methods will include strong biblical teaching, leadership development, engaging challenging topics, worship, mentoring relationships, executing engaging events as well as pastoral care, pursuing church unity, conflict management and interpersonal reconciliation.
Your Team Relationships: The Worship Pastor is accountable and reports to the Lead Pastor, is a participant on the Ministry Leaders team, and on the Management team. You directly oversee volunteer leaders and teams in Worship Ministry and First Impressions Ministry, providing leadership development, equipping resources, team building, encouragement and pastoral care. You will collaborate with all support teams related to providing worship services/experiences. You will work with the Pastoral Team to fulfill our mission and develop both long and short-term Ministry goals.
Personal Qualifications: The Worship Pastor must be a Spirit-filled Christian living a life of Christian integrity demonstrated through the fruit of the Spirit. Their words and actions must be consistent. This person must have personal and spiritual integrity, be a team player, competent to execute the ministries under their charge in the context of the larger church, and through servant leadership be able to connect with others in a positive manner. A relational and approachable personality is paramount to success in relating to each generation in the congregation. If married, it is important that both the pastor and the spouse understand the significance of the pastor’s role and that the support of the spouse in the life of the church is instrumental to success in Ministry.
Areas of responsibility (percentages represent approximate time allotments)
Pastoral Care & Individual Discipleship 15%
● Participate on the Ministry Leadership Team.
● Present a relational presence that is visible, purposeful, and available to this neighborhood, the city, and the world, as a representative of Eastview Community Church.
● Provide pastoral care to those within your circle of influence – may include counselling, weddings, and funerals, interments, prayers, home, and hospital visitation.
Worship Ministry 40%
● Build relationships and coach staff and volunteer leaders through shepherding and discipling.
● Coordinate First Impression teams, trends and tools to enrich Eastview’s worship experience.
● Develop creative worship elements consistent with service themes using congregational praise, special music, multimedia, drama, decorating etc.
● Direct and coordinate all worship teams and events.
● Direct the media and stage design team.
● Directly supervise Technical Coordinator, conducting annual performance reviews.
● Dream, strategically plan, implement and evaluate Worship Ministry on an ongoing basis, utilizing the collaborative efforts of the Worship staff team, the First Impressions and Design lead team.
● Lead Worship Design Team(s) for regular services and special events.
● Oversee the research of new equipment and innovations for audio, visual, stage design – and execution of new or stabilizing ideas for the church.
● Oversee worship services, embedding our discipleship outcomes & philosophy of worship into the structure and content.
● Plan and provide regular and special worship events throughout the year (ex; Membership, Easter, Fall kick-off, Christmas, Baptism and praise nights)
● Provide music, charting and worship materials as needed. ● Provide on-stage leadership 50-60% of the time.
● Recruit and equip volunteers and leaders for the teams under your leadership.
● Review and update our philosophy of worship.
Spiritual Instruction & Formation 25%
● Coach & disciple worship team leaders, individually & as a group, meeting at least 4/annually.
● Participate in Sunday morning adult teaching rotation – 5+/year, as well as in other contexts including but not limited to our Sunday gatherings.
● Provide equipping & leadership development for all team members under your oversight.
● Provide spiritual instruction that is biblically strong, and developmentally appropriate for worship.
● Teach on material that is biblically based and consistent with our confession of faith, embedding our discipleship outcomes into the structure and content.
Administration
● Attend and support all staff prayer meetings, staff gatherings, and congregational meetings, retreats, all-hands-on-deck events.
● Collaborate with the Leadership Board and Admin team for the Fall and Spring Meeting.
● Prepare the Worship report for Staff meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
● Prepare, administer, and monitor the Worship annual budget.
● Provide regular, timely and professional communication to your team and volunteers.
● Track and report music / video etc. for licensing / copyright purposes. 10%
● Use the Eastview Data Management tools consistently and carefully.
● Work with Eastview staff in Safe Places compliance and training opportunities for Eastview volunteers, in accordance with the Manitoba MB Conference Safe Places Policy.
● Work with volunteers to plan events, screen volunteers, track participation and follow-up.
Professional & Personal Spiritual Development
● Attend Spiritual retreats, and conferences.
● Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor and other spiritual mentors.
● Pursue and model practices of spiritual formation.
● Read and study for teaching. 10%
● Utilize the professional development time and money provided by Eastview in accordance with Eastview’s Professional Development policy.
